Every autumn in Kakheti, Georgia's most famous wine region, a special time arrives: the vineyards come to life. The mountains and valleys are filled with the aroma of ripe grapes, songs, and the joy of celebration. Local residents gather together to take part in one of the oldest and most revered rituals—RTVELI, the traditional grape harvest.
We invite you to be part of this magical event and join us on a journey into the world of Georgian winemaking. We will start our day with a Georgian wine tasting and a master class on the most Georgian dish of all — khinkali! You will learn the secrets of the perfect dough, filling, proper “twisting,” and cooking.
Then we will go to the vineyards to pick sun-ripened grapes with a view of the Alazani Valley.
After the harvest, we will crush the grapes with our feet in a satsnakheli, a wooden vessel for crushing berries, as they did thousands of years ago. We may even start dancing, because what is a rtveli without music!
And then — everyone to the table to celebrate the harvest! The highlight of our feast will be a real Georgian tamada — a master of toasts and the life of the party. He will turn the meal into a real celebration, filled with warmth, laughter, and many voices, bringing everyone together at one table.
