The Wedding of the Finches

Two young finches are deeply in love. Yet Ketevan’s father, Finch Toma, is firmly opposed and categorically rejects Zakara’s proposal. Heartbroken and desperate, Zakara tries everything to change his mind. Their story of hopeless love unfolding in the forest does not go unnoticed by the messengers — the dove and the magpie.

In the palace of the Eagle King, various birds appear with their own troubles and pleas for help. The King listens kindly and offers his support. The plot moves toward a joyful resolution: the play’s antagonists manage to kidnap Ketevan from her own wedding feast, where merriment is in full swing. Enraged, the Eagle King orders the culprits to be captured and punished. His heralds succeed in catching the wrongdoers and freeing Ketevan. The play ends on a cheerful note: the wedding continues, love triumphs over hatred, and good conquers evil.
