On July 15, the Academy of Thinking will host an exclusive salon discussion with psychiatrist Guga Sikharulidze on the topic:
👉 "Sleep, Melatonin & the Biological Clock: How the Night Shapes Our Health"
Sleep is far more than rest—it's a highly organized biological process essential for both physical and mental well-being. While we appear to be "switched off," our brains regenerate neural networks, regulate hormones, consolidate memories and cognitive functions, and strengthen the immune system.
During this lecture, we'll explore the neurobiology of circadian rhythms and take a closer look at the body's internal master clock—the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). We'll also examine melatonin, not only as the "sleep hormone," but as a key molecular regulator that synchronizes our biological rhythms.
Beyond the science, we'll discuss the challenges of modern life, including how blue light from digital screens, chronic stress, circadian disruption, and social jet lag interfere with the biological systems shaped by human evolution.
The goal of the session is to use evidence-based science to deepen our understanding of sleep and provide practical, clinically supported strategies for improving sleep quality, overall well-being, and psychological resilience.
🍰 Guests will enjoy a light buffet and a welcoming atmosphere following the discussion.
