An Evening of Active and Passive Meditation Synthesis
On Wednesday, July 1st, at 8:00 PM, Lumos invites you to a synthetic evening of active and passive meditations, guided by Tama, an Eastern manual and holistic therapist, and Neli, a meditation teacher, musician, and sound-vibrational therapy practitioner.
What awaits you at this therapeutic evening?
Body-Oriented Active Dance Movement Therapy
This technique utilizes bodily expression to release emotional, mental, and spiritual barriers or pain. It is deeply rooted in the relationship between movement and emotion, serving as a mechanism through which individuals can gain greater self-clarity through personal integration.
Restorative Sound Session
The gathering will conclude with a restorative sound session designed for deep relaxation, resetting, and calming the nervous system.
How does Sound Therapy work?
Sound therapy operates through vibrations, frequencies, and resonance. Research shows that deep resonant experiences help shift brainwave activity from an active Beta state to calmer Alpha, Theta, or Delta states—the frequencies associated with meditation, deep rest, insight, and healing.
Sound also helps balance the autonomous nervous system and activates the parasympathetic ("rest-and-recover") state. Sonic vibrations penetrate directly into tissues, muscles, and bones, promoting deep relaxation, improving blood circulation, and releasing accumulated tension.
Studies confirm that such practices have the potential to significantly lower cortisol (the stress hormone) levels. Furthermore, they stimulate the production of nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels and helps the entire body relax.
Dance Meditation takes place at Lumos every Wednesday.
