Description
Discover Kendo — the Japanese art of swordsmanship and the philosophy of the Way of
the Sword — together. This private experience for two combines physical practice with
concentration, discipline, and an introduction to the traditions of Japanese warriors.
Guided by an experienced instructor, you will explore the philosophy of Kendo, discover the traditions and principles behind the samurai way, and learn the correct stance, movement, and basic techniques of using a shinai — a bamboo sword. You will then have a chance to put your new skills into practice together through partner exercises.
Kendo is not simply about strength or athletic ability. Attention, precision, respect for your
partner, and the ability to remain calm and focused are equally important. This makes the
experience suitable even for complete beginners holding a sword for the first time.
What to expect:
• Introduction to the philosophy and traditions of Kendo
• Basics of the etiquette and culture of the Way of the Sword
