“The Misadventures of ‘Falling Leaves’” — the fifth lecture in the series by film expert and critic Manana Lekborashvili, “The Sixties and the Sixtiers — The Golden Years of Georgian Cinema.”

The evening will begin at 19:00 with a screening of the film Falling Leaves, followed by a lecture at 20:40, where we will discuss the work of Otar Iosseliani.

Falling Leaves tells the story of a young technologist, Niko, who starts working at a wine factory and confronts a system that compromises both industrial standards and ethical principles. Refusing to betray his conscience, he strives to maintain his inner honesty and dignity — in both his profession and personal life. It’s a quiet yet determined resistance in a world where sincerity is seen as a weakness.
The film opens with a documentary-style prologue on traditional Georgian winemaking, and its narrative unfolds in “chapters” named after the days of the week.
