On May 30, the Tatuza stage will host Yellowjackets for the very first time.
The legendary jazz fusion band Yellowjackets is now in its fifth decade and continues its musical journey with unstoppable energy. A group that has significantly shaped the sound of contemporary jazz, they still create new music with the same passion and constantly explore new directions.
Their latest, 27th album — “Fasten Up”, released on February 21, 2025 — reflects this ongoing movement and evolution. The album title comes from an energetic composition by bassist Dane Alderson and feels like both a call and a warning: get ready, fasten your seatbelts — Yellowjackets are back at full speed.
Throughout their history, the band’s music has been defined by a fusion of styles and influences — jazz, fusion, funk, and modern improvisation. This constant experimentation is what keeps them relevant across decades.
The current lineup features both founding members and key musicians who have shaped the band’s legacy:
Russell Ferrante — piano / keys
Bob Mintzer — saxophone
Dane Alderson — bass
Will Kennedy — drums
