Description

The Philology Club, a student organization of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, announces a competition of free-topic works, essays, and short prose sketches titled “Word, Georgian!”.

Participants are required to submit one of the listed types of works.
The topic and length of the submission are not limited.

The competition is open to:

  • students of Grades VII–XII;

  • undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) students.

Submissions should be sent to the following email address:

It is recommended to indicate the subject line as: “Competition — Word, Georgian!”.

Each submission must include:

  • first and last name;

  • school / university;

  • grade / year of study.

Formatting requirements:

  • font: Sylfaen;

  • font size: 12;

  • file format: MS Word / PDF.

Submission deadline: February 16.
Selected participants will be notified by email after February 23.

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is the oldest and largest higher education institution in Georgia. It was founded on February 8, 1918 (January 26 according to the Old Style), on the feast day of David the Builder, in Tbilisi, in the building of the former gymnasium.
On September 3 of the same year, it was officially named Tbilisi State University. At that time, it was the first and only university in the entire Caucasus.
