The Academy of Thinking will host a salon discussion titled “Water(po)loo” — Water, Life, Human, led by poet, prose writer, and essayist Giorgi Kekelidze.
➡️ The short story “Waterpolo” by Guram Dochanshvili is one of the author’s most distinctive and multilayered works. On one hand, it preserves his characteristic style and elements of magical realism; on the other, it reveals a postmodern playful approach, with a multi-coded title and structural complexity. The story is built compositionally and symbolically, with the very title creating its own interpretative space.
➡️ During the lecture, we will explore the symbolism of water — as both an existential threat and a fundamental support and origin of human life. The text simultaneously narrates a story set in contemporary reality while engaging with timeless themes: what it means to be human, the tragicomic nature of existence, floating on the surface versus sinking into the depths. The meeting will go beyond textual analysis.
🍰 Guests will enjoy a buffet and a pleasant atmosphere.
Duration of the event — 2–3 hours.
