“Vision” is a reinterpretation of Euripides’ ancient tragedy “Iphigenia in Aulis.”
The play portrays a society in a state of crisis, where the threat of war, political instability, and social fear create an environment in which rational thinking gradually loses ground and submits to a transcendent force.
“Vision” deliberately rejects the pathos of classical tragedy. The text’s humor and its seemingly cynical tone form a space of bitter self-irony, where tragic experience is no longer perceived as a source of catharsis.
The performance explores the archetypal model of ancient tragedy and its contemporary, distorted reflection. Modern characters maintain a connection to the ancient prototype precisely through the rupture of that connection.
The production offers a critical observation of the moment when society becomes ready to believe the unbelievable and accept the unacceptable — the threshold at which, blinded by the instinct of self-preservation, it is governed by fear, belief, and the machinery of propaganda.
“Vision” does not provide easy answers.
It holds up a mirror to the viewer — as a citizen, as a parent, as a human being.
