The Department of Modern and Contemporary History of the Institute of World History (Teaching and Research), Faculty of Humanities, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, is organizing the 6th National Student Scientific Conference on January 21–23, 2026.
The conference is open to undergraduate and master’s students of accredited higher education institutions in Georgia.
Presentations should address issues of modern and/or contemporary history of the world and/or Georgia.
Selected papers presented at the conference will be published electronically in the conference proceedings.
Those wishing to participate must submit completed articles along with a recommendation letter from their academic supervisor by December 29 to the following email address: worldhistory@tsu.ge.
Conference presentations will be selected through a blind peer-review process.
Article formatting guidelines:
Article title — in Georgian;
Author’s first and last name — in Georgian;
Name of the institution — in Georgian;
Name of the faculty — in Georgian;
3–5 keywords — in Georgian;
Main text of the article — starting on a new page, in Georgian (MS Word format, font: Sylfaen or Calibri);
Article length: 1500–2000 words;
List of references.
A separate document containing the academic supervisor’s evaluation must be attached to the paper.
The academic supervisor may be a member of the academic staff of an accredited higher education institution, a holder of a doctoral or equivalent academic degree, or a doctoral student.
Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is the oldest and largest higher education institution in Georgia. It was founded on February 8, 1918 (January 26 according to the Old Style), on the feast day of David the Builder, in Tbilisi, in the building of the former gymnasium.
On September 3 of the same year, it was officially named Tbilisi State University. At that time, it was the first and only university in the entire Caucasus.
