This is a quiet, well-measured, unhurried, purely Asian film. A visual illustration (almost like a Bible with pictures for children) of a person's mastering the basic truths of Buddhism. In practice. Living a monastic life from early childhood to death, the hero is convinced by his own experience that only the rejection of passions and attachments can bring liberation from suffering. And, according to the film's slogan, even love is «a medicine that you should be able to refuse».
