The Economics of Bitcoin

On Saturday, June 6, join us for a workshop dedicated to technology and economics. Cryptocurrencies have brought us low-cost payments, transaction privacy, independence from intermediaries, and greater freedom from state control. But is that enough for them to become the money of the future?

Information systems engineer Andrey Bolkisev invites you to his next “hyper-lecture,” dedicated to deconstructing the grand narrative surrounding cryptocurrencies.

During the session, we will:

• Explore the main narratives and ideas that shape the public perception of cryptocurrencies.

• Examine crypto as a socio-economic system through the lens of the Austrian School of Economics.

• Discuss what modern cryptocurrencies still lack in order to replace fiat money — and whether such a transition is even desirable.

The workshop will be led by Andrey Bolkisev — independent researcher, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, and author of the channel “Everyday Views of Mr. Semushelsky.”
