Description

March 31 marks the memorial day of one of the greatest figures of Georgian culture — the patriarch of Georgian folklore, Anzor Erkomaishvili.
This gives the event a special emotional and symbolic meaning.

On April 1 at 17:00, you are invited to a screening of the short film
“The Black Thrush Chi-O-O-Da…”, dedicated to the maestro.

📍 Venue: Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University
(2nd administrative building, Eldar Shengelaia Cinema Hall)

About the Film

The story behind the film is emotional and almost mystical.
It began with director Giorgi Chumburidze reading Erkomaishvili’s memoirs.

Originally conceived as an animated project, it later evolved into a biographical film after the maestro’s passing.

Cast includes:
• Misho Javakhishvili
• Irakli Kavsadze

From the original concept remained only the symbol — the black thrush,
which appeared on set on the very first day of filming.

The film has been screened in Tbilisi and Japan.
Japanese producers were so impressed that they are considering turning it into a full-length feature.

After the screening

🎤 Director Giorgi Chumburidze will share behind-the-scenes stories and future plans.

🕔 Time: April 1, 17:00
🎟 Free admission

Join us in honoring the memory of a great maestro.

Location

Tbilisi
Tbilisi is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of around 1.2 million people. Tbilisi was founded in the fifth century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, and since then has served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Because of its location at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, and its proximity to the lucrative Silk Road, throughout history, Tbilisi has been a point of contention among various global powers. To this day, the city's location ensures its position as an important transit route for energy and trade projects. Tbilisi's history is reflected in its architecture, which is a mix of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, Art Nouveau, Stalinist, and Modern structures. Historically, Tbilisi has been home to people of multiple cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, though its population is overwhelmingly Eastern Orthodox Christian.
