In the 21st century, jazz has transcended its traditional boundaries, seamlessly blending with genres like hip-hop and funk. Egor Popov, a distinguished jazz trumpeter from Saint Petersburg, will reunite and showcase the cutting-edge sounds of modern jazz fusion with the Ultimate Answer in Tbilisi at the Union Jazz Bar.
The program will feature compositions by the American jazz fusion group Snarky Puppy, the French modern jazz groove ensemble Panam Panic, virtuoso drummer Nate Smith, as well as trumpeters Keyon Harold and Takuya Kuroda.
Having spent two years in Georgia, Egor immersed himself in the vibrant Tbilisi jazz scene, collaborating with renowned musicians such as Rezo Kiknadze, Nodariko Kutsishvili, Roma Rtskhiladze, Gia Rakviashvili, Kakha Jagishvili, Gigi Tsintsadze, George Mel, Maia Baratashvili, and many others. He has also performed with the Tbilisi Jazz Orchestra, further enriching his diverse musical journey.
Beyond his work in Georgia, Egor has shared the stage with iconic groups like Aquarium and the celebrated singer Manizha.
The trumpet, often regarded as one of jazz's most emblematic instruments, is believed to carry the very soul of the genre, making Egor’s mastery of the instrument an essential element of his captivating performances.
