Zurab Kandelaki’s “An Audio Play for the Audience” delves into the lives of actors displaced from Abkhazia. Unexpectedly, they find themselves participating in the recording of a talk show, where they must audition by performing excerpts from roles they once played.
As they prepare and rehearse, memories of the Sokhumi Theatre and its irreplaceable atmosphere come flooding back. Along the way, they share deeply personal stories—interwoven with sorrow, humor, tragedy, and a resilient sense of optimism.
(The play includes quotes from the plays of Tennessee Williams, Richard Howard, and William Saroyan. The poem by Igor Severyanin was translated by Nino Darbaiseli.)
Please note, latecomers will not be admitted after the performance has begun!
