Mamuka Salukvadze's play "Loneliness" was written and performed in the 90s -- and despite this, it's still applies and stands relevant to the world today. This play is about an artist and his wife, who live together and love each other, but - feel incredibly lonely. The author uses the agony of social problems as a pretext for normalizing and dullifying the relationship. The play is interesting due to it's existential take. Also on stage are the "embodiments" of the husbands thoughts as well as the wifes. The writer wanted 'the thoughts' to be done as seperate roles played by artists, not as a voice over or recorded audio. These 'thoughts' are used as subtext devices. This play has not yet been performed with this method, anywehre. Demographic issues are very evidently depicted in the work wich are expressed through things such as the way love fades for the artist who cannot keep his family intact with his creative efforts; A busy wife who works day and night pleads for financial support from her parents due to her minimum wage. amidst all this hardship a conflict arises that leads to the separation of said family, but their love for each-other constantly unites them and keeps them together. The problem stands at the fact that people don't talk about what's on their mind and therefore they cover this lack of honesty behind from be it - humor or cynicism. The attitude and stereotypical way of thinking when it comes to the institution(s) of a family is quite clear, as if the social play transforms into a rather sad melodrama with touches of absurdity. The "Pocket Theater" serves the purpose of finding and discovering modern Georgian playwrights subsequently promoting them. This time Mamuka Salukvadze's given the honor, due to her ealy passing.. her play on the other hand -till this day-sounds surpisingly modern, regardless of the time it was written in with the interesting take of the characters 'thoughts' that are present alongside their manifest-ers, on stage. It is a crucial mission to introduce the modern playwright and her work to the Georgian audience. Start: 20:00
