Description

The Crucible – a play by American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem “Witch trials” that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692/93. Little girl’s harmless “childish” game, which finally grew into dramatic trial. The society divided into two sides, “which hunt”, love and revenge, the sin committed in the name of Lord and wild temptations, which caused the mass hysteria.

In 1928 Alexander Takaishvili created the Georgian Theater of the Young Spectator. The premiere of the first performance "Fritz Bauer" (N. Sats) took place on 11 November. It was followed by performances: "Robin Hood" (S. Zayatsky), "The Man in Black Glasses" (V. Kurdyumov), "Hiawatha" (N. Ognev) and others. Spectators watched the performances with great interest. The success of these performances is the merit of the artists: G. Kuprashvili, T. Tvaliashvili, G. Darispanashvili, M. Ergneli, a little later: V. Areshidze, I. Ninua, A. Kachkachishvili, N. Sirbiladze, D. Tskhakaia, N. Khorava, M. Dzhadzhanashvili, I. Donauri, G. Deisadze, A. Kiasashvili, D. Dzneladze, A. Gviniashvili and others. In 1998, the Georgian and Russian Theater of the Young Spectator merged under the name of the Central Children's Theater named after N. Dumbadze. The theater began its joint activities in the former building of the Russian Youth Theater. Thanks to the Cartu Charitable Foundation and the theater management, the building was completely reconstructed.
