The Academy of Thinking will host a salon evening with translator Tatia Memarnishvili.
During the event, Tatia Memarnishvili will speak about:
• What defines the uniqueness and diversity of Japanese culture. Why Japanese art is so captivating, the path Japanese culture has taken to reach the present day, and what makes it so appealing today.
• The lecture will explore, from a historical perspective, the key stages of the formation of Japanese culture and its artistic fields.
• A special focus will be placed on Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and his work:
Akutagawa is considered the father of the Japanese short story. Despite his short life, he wrote around 150 stories and critical essays, as well as haiku. His writing is distinguished by themes of cultural identity. Although his stories are set in different eras and cities of Japan, they remain strikingly universal and highly relevant even in the modern world.
We invite you to join the discussion, hear more about these topics, and ask your questions.
Guests will be welcomed with a small reception and a pleasant atmosphere.
Duration of the event: 2–3 hours
