Public lecture "Nonlibidinal Economy, Desire and Sexuality"

We usually think of economics as limited to welfare issues. But can political economy shape bodies, behavior, culture, desire, and even sexuality? In this talk, Kathy Chukhrov compares libidinal and non-libidinal forms of economics and discusses the impact of economics on the formation of collective desire and cultural horizons. These and other issues will be discussed at the meeting. Keti Chukhrov (Chukhrukidze) - visiting professor at Linkoping University (Sweden). In 2022-2023, he was a visiting professor at the Karlsruhe University of Art and Design. Until November 2022, he worked as a professor at the Higher School of Economics (Moscow), School of Philosophy and Culture. In 2017-2019, he was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow in Great Britain. She is the author of many texts on art theory and philosophy. Her book Practicing the Good. Desire and Boredom in Soviet Socialism" (2020) examines the influence of socialist political economy on the culture and society of historical socialism. His books include the monographs: "To Be—To Perform. Theater in Philosophical Criticism of Art" (2011) and the collection of dramatic poems: "Only and Only Humans ' (2010).His research interests and publications concern the philosophy of performativity, the comparative epistemologies of capitalist and non-capitalist societies, and art as an institution of global modernity. On March 30, at 10:00, a public lecture - "Non-libidinal economy, desire and sexuality" will be held in the conference hall of the Caucasus University. The event is held within the framework of psychoanalytical association seminars.

The lecture will be led by Keti Chukhrov (Chukhrukidze) - visiting professor of Linköping (Sweden) and Karlsruhe (Germany) universities. Moderators: Giga Maminashvili - associate professor of Caucasus University; Anna Beria - Kingston University, Research Center for Modern European Philosophy.
