This performance is based on the novel “Revenge, or The Georgian Woman” by Turkish classical writer Ahmet Mithat Efendi.

The play has a historical focus and explores the abolition of the Kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti, Georgia’s transformation into a province of the Russian Empire, and the exile of the royal families.

The main character, Helen — daughter of King George XII — vows to take revenge on General Pavel Tsitsianov for betraying the royal family and the country.

The performance will take place at the Experimental Stage of Shota Rustaveli National Theatre.
