The Hundred-Foot Journey

Master of delicate and touching melodramas Lasse Hallström ("Chocolat," "The Cider House Rules") adapted the eponymous novel by Richard C. Morais about a multicultural and gastronomic rivalry with a happy ending: an Indian immigrant family that settles in Provence opens a café right across from the local stronghold of French cuisine—the Michelin-starred restaurant "Le Saule Pleureur," initially provoking the anger and later the interest of its extremely conservative owner. The lead role is played by the renowned Helen Mirren, and the producer is the commercially savvy Steven Spielberg.
