Description

A year ago we thought of a trilogy on the topic of violence. The first part of the trilogy is Tolstoy's "Kreutzer Sonata", which deals with the theme of domestic violence. The second part of the trilogy is Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment", which shows the desire to achieve success and overcome inner goals through violence, and at the same time the complexity of its destructive power. We are still thinking about the third part of the trilogy, although it could be Dostoevsky's "Devils", which expresses violence in a socio-political context and the evil force even wins. The period of the pandemic forced us to continue the rehearsals of this play for 9 months. Time allowed the creative group to thoroughly delve into this genius work, thereby giving a great gift to ourselves, to intellectuals, and not only to them...

Kote Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre is a state theatre in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is one of the oldest and most significant theatres in the country, coming second perhaps only to the national Rustaveli Theatre. The theatre was founded in Kutaisi in 1928 by Kote Marjanishvili. It moved to Tbilisi in 1930 to the former Brothers Zubalashvili philanthropic "Public House", the building it still occupies. The theatre's art nouveau edifice was thoroughly renovated and reopened in 2006 with the premiere of Bertolt Brecht's The Threepenny Opera. The theatre building was designed by Polish architect Stefan Kryczyński, while its construction was led by another Polish architect Aleksander Rogojski, municipal architect of Tbilisi.
