The performance “Platon” brings together reality and fantasy on stage at the same time. Platon Gigineishvili reminds us that a true doctor does not heal only the body — he gives an entire city the strength to live through love, faith, and kindness.
His world is inhabited by lyrical characters: eucalyptus, a jaybird, Mother Batumi, Veriko, the Dursun coffee house, and even a mosquito named Coperpistus and sea fish, elevated to almost human forms.
The world presented on stage is both engaging and thought-provoking for children as well as adult audiences. The final scene is especially powerful, where the “green rain,” like the doctor’s spirit, returns over the city as the final free prescription of kindness.
The performance speaks about timeless and deeply relevant themes such as love, faith, devotion, and selfless kindness.
From January 14, 2016, the creative process of the Batumi Puppet and Youth Theater continues in the reconstructed building. The historical building with its one floor and summer space has been granted the status of a cultural heritage monument.
