British-Georgian Academy presents the musical Oliver JR! — one of the most famous and acclaimed adaptations of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.
The musical premiered in 1960 in West End and later on Broadway in 1963. This masterpiece, winner of the Tony Awardsand Olivier Awards, is among the few musicals whose film adaptation won an Academy Awards for Best Picture.
The story takes audiences to Victorian England of the 19th century and follows the journey of the innocent orphan boy Oliver Twist. His adventure begins when he is expelled from a grim orphanage after daring to ask for more food with the famous line: “Please, sir, I want some more.”
In search of his place in the world, Oliver arrives in London, where he encounters a group of young pickpockets led by Fagin. However, he soon realizes that the criminal world is not where he belongs. Despite many hardships, Oliver ultimately finds a true home and the life that was always meant for him.
