💡 On April 22, the Academy of Thinking will host a salon-style discussion with psychiatrist Nino Naneishvili on the topic:
“Narcissistic Culture and Its Emotionally Unstable Outcomes”
👉 The lecture explores the mental reality of the modern individual and the transformations shaped by 21st-century social, technological, and cultural shifts. At the center of the discussion is the crisis of identity: the gap between the “real self” and the digital persona, their tension or dissonant coexistence, and the psychological consequences of this conflict.
We will examine the concept of the “age of narcissism,” describing the condition of contemporary личности: a constant need for validation, fragile self-esteem, emotional instability, and a sense of inner emptiness. Special attention will be given to the paradox in which individuals simultaneously seek intimacy while avoiding it, construct grandiose self-images while internally experiencing vulnerability and disorientation.
The lecture will also address how psychological pain is transformed in the modern context and how it manifests through self-destructive behaviors, impulsivity, and emotional extremes, particularly among adolescents. Participants will gain both a theoretical framework and practical insights to better understand contemporary psychopathological challenges and develop effective approaches for working with them in individual, clinical, and educational settings.
