Monster

The film begins as a story of sinister relationships between a schoolboy and a young teacher. The mother starts noticing strange behavior in her son and investigates the school to have the teacher removed from classes. But later, it will be revealed that everything is not as she imagined.

"Monster" is a film about the subjectivity of reality perception and people's inability to see the world as another person sees it. The second half of the film is loosely related to reality interpretations and tells the story of very close, more than friendly, relationships between two boys.

Hirokazu Koreeda is rightfully considered one of the brightest directors in Japan. His "Shoplifters" was the triumph of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
