Moldova on the Path to Europe

Today, Moldova stands at a historic crossroads — between the aspiration for European integration and calls for unity with Russia, between the legacy of an imperial past and the hope for a democratic future.

We invite you to an open discussion about Moldova’s destiny, the meaning of solidarity, and the ways in which history, politics, and culture intertwine in the search for the nation’s future.

During the meeting, we will discuss:
● How has Moldovan identity transformed since the collapse of the USSR?
● How did the republic experience the 1990s?
● What has been happening in Transnistria and Gagauzia?
● Why did the slogan “Action and Solidarity” become a symbol of the European course?
● What does independence mean in the context of European integration?
● And most importantly — what choice does Moldovan society face today?

The discussion will be led by journalist and historian Vadim Lifshits and former Leningrad City Council deputy and historian Vitaly Skoibeda.
