California, mid-’90s. Compact discs haven’t yet replaced cassette tapes, skateboarders haven’t hit MTV, and little Stevie is still treated like a child by both his mom and older brother. Everything changes when Stevie is accepted into an adult crowd of rebellious skaters, and to prove his coolness, he performs one hilariously reckless stunt after another. Unnoticed by him, the line between innocent fun and real trouble begins to blur amid skate sessions, hip-hop hangouts, and parties.
A successful directorial debut by well-known actor Jonah Hill, inspired by Kids and This Is England. Sunny Suljic, the boy from The Killing of a Sacred Deer, stars in the lead role.
