“Mcheli” — Ancient Georgian Songs and Chants

On May 16 at 8:00 PM, we invite you to the mysterious tunnels of the historic caravanserai in Old Tbilisi.

Skene is the city’s underground theater — a space for experimental performances, where Georgian traditions resonate with the hidden history beneath the city.

The “Mcheli” repertoire brings together old expedition recordings and musical manuscripts collected by the ensemble’s artistic director and ethnomusicologist Ketevan Baiashvili during her door-to-door journeys through Georgian villages. On this evening, she will personally share the stories behind these rare musical treasures.

This is not just a concert — it is a journey into the ancient mysteries of Georgia.

The ticket includes a tasting of natural Georgian wine and traditional Georgian sweets.
