A pastoral costume film from the creator of "Barbie," a remake of the classic family film from 1994.
During the Civil War in America, four completely different sisters (Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, and Eliza Scanlen) grow up. They wait for their father to return from war, dream of a bright future, fall in love (with Timothy Chalamet, of course), argue, and make up, but ultimately love and support each other.
As we all saw in "Barbie", Greta Gerwig loves strong female characters (and pities weak men). Probably that's why she was so drawn to the story of little women. The author of the eponymous book, Louisa May Alcott, managed to create a unique female character for her time—her own alter ego named Jo—a tomboy dreaming of a writing career and independence. In addition, in her youth, Alcott helped her parents shelter runaway slaves and later became the first woman in Massachusetts to register to vote.
Oscar for Best Costume Design.
