The Lobster

In the near future, a (terrifying nightmare for a sociophobe!) ban on loneliness is in effect: anyone who has not yet found a partner or has lost one is arrested and sent to a special hotel, where they have exactly 45 days to find a new partner. In case of failure, they will be transformed into animals. However, newcomers are generously allowed to choose their future embodiment according to their taste. The favorite pastime of the residents becomes hunting "loners" - dissidents hiding in the woods who fundamentally deny intimacy and romantic relationships. Caught between these two extremes is the main character played by Colin Farrell.

Yorgos Lanthimos, being one of the most notable directors of the Greek "Weird Wave," creates a truly strange, but at the same time, in the spirit of the best dystopias, believable and recognizable reality that, despite its fantastic conditionality, remains frighteningly alive.
