‘Once, on a cold November day, I found myself on the coast of the Caspian Sea, which stretches for thousands of meters: cloudy sky, soft diffused light, strong wind, empty shacks scattered from it and small buildings out of shape, cold, lots of car tires buried in the sand, a few abandoned old cars and crashing gray waves. I was shooting non-stop for almost two hours and only stopped when my fingers froze so much that I could no longer hold the camera. I did not even think I had unconsciously started working on my self-portrait. Arriving at different seasons, I always went to the beach and kept shooting.
While taking photos, I suddenly realized I was capturing loneliness - my loneliness, not tragic, but universal, which is probably buried deep in all people.’
