We will discuss Joyce's encounters with Vladimir Nabokov, Sergei Eisenstein, Ilya Ehrenburg, the tragicomic history of the translation of Ulysses in the USSR and post-Soviet Russia, as well as Joyce's perception of the works of Pushkin, Lermontov, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, and other Russian classics. Additionally, you will learn where and why the Russian city of Vladivostok is mentioned in Ulysses and the connections between Irish and Vladivostokian spaces.
