In this meeting, we will discuss how words from Indo-European languages (both general Indo-European roots and specifically Armenian ones) have entered the Georgian language at different historical stages — from ancient contacts to later borrowings. We will examine how these words changed in form, pronunciation, and meaning during the adaptation process, and what happened to their etymology within the Kartvelian language family.
We will look at specific examples, trace the path of individual lexemes from their original Indo-European roots to modern usage, and also discuss the cultural and historical processes that accompanied these changes.
