On September 13, at 16:00, in the multifunctional space of TBC Concept, in the hall on the fourth floor, the presentation of the book by Lado Aleksi-Meskhishvili will take place.
The book represents the final stage of a three-year project, which also included exhibitions dedicated to the architect in Tbilisi and Kutaisi in 2022–2023.
At the presentation, the book will be discussed by: Dimitri Eristavi, Levan Kalandarishvili, and Manana Arabuli.
Lado Aleksi-Meskhishvili is one of the distinguished architects whose work has left a significant mark in Georgia, especially in Tbilisi. He belonged to one of the first generations to receive architectural education in Georgia. During his studies and professional activity, two fundamental shifts occurred in architecture: the introduction of Socialist Realism (1930s), which promoted the construction of national identity and often directly encouraged decorativeness; and later, the USSR decree “On the Elimination of Excesses in Design and Construction” (1955), which opened the way for rapid and economical construction by industrial methods, and in terms of expression, laid the foundations of simplicity and strict forms, thereby prohibiting all decorative elements characteristic of the previous period.
