In 1959, Konstantine Tsereteli was granted an apartment at 2 Uznadze Street in Tbilisi through the assistance of the Academy of Sciences. From that time onward, the Tsereteli family lived in this apartment.
The first government resolution concerning the establishment of the museum (No. 06.40.133) dates back to 2003.
In 2011, Soso Tsereteli's mother, Leila Tsereteli, donated her property to the Tbilisi municipal authorities free of charge.
In accordance with Article 36 of the Georgian Law “On the Capital of Georgia — Tbilisi” and Tbilisi Government Resolution No. 07.24.251 of March 28, 2011, an agreement was signed transferring ownership of the apartment to the Tbilisi municipal authority.
The transfer was made on the condition that the Memorial Museum of artist Soso Tsereteli and academician Kote Tsereteli would continue operating.
The museum preserves materials related to the lives and work of Konstantine Tsereteli, a distinguished Georgian Orientalist and the founder of Hebrew and Aramaic studies in Georgia, as well as the artist Soso Tsereteli.
Its collections include personal memorabilia, private archives, manuscripts, photographs, and various historical documents.
A significant part of the collection is dedicated to Soso Tsereteli's artistic legacy, including paintings, graphic works, and personal notes.
The museum also houses Kote Tsereteli's library, featuring his scholarly publications and rare editions in the field of Oriental studies.
