After the sudden death of the Pope, the cardinals prepare for the conclave— the election of a new head of the Catholic Church. The leadership and organization of the procedure are entrusted to Cardinal Lawrence. Soon, he learns several unpleasant secrets about the main candidates for the papacy, which could drastically affect the election outcome and shake the foundations of the Church.
