30-year-old Vasily Kandinsky, on the verge of becoming a professor and already a lawyer, decides to dedicate himself to painting.
We will talk about Kandinsky—the scholar, musician, traveler, experimenter, theorist, teacher, and most importantly, abstract artist.
In less than ten years, he will boldly present the first abstract painting in the history of art. Gradually, he will free his works from narrative and objects, erasing the boundaries between reality, emotions, and imagination. A spontaneous play of color, expression, and dynamics—bringing painting closer to pure impression.
He will create his "Improvisations" and "Compositions," offering viewers a completely new visual experience.
Is it easy to conceive and paint abstraction?
Do we need to understand and explain it?
How can we stop searching for meaning and images and instead simply immerse ourselves and feel?
We will explore these questions in the art lecture "Kandinsky: Inventing Abstraction."
