During the lecture, we will explore how Japanese aesthetics originated and how they developed into modern literary traditions.
We will discuss key literary movements and influential authors who shaped Japanese literature and established its unique place in the global literary landscape. These include Akutagawa, Ōe, Kawabata, Murakami, Kobo Abe, and Mishima. Through their works and biographies, we will also explore aspects of Japanese culture and aesthetic worldview, themes of personal quest and alienation, as well as questions of ideology and identity.
