Horse Racing in Bakhmaro

Held annually on the Feast of the Transfiguration, these races have been one of the region's most cherished traditions for more than 100 years.

 This year's prize fund is 20,000 GEL.

Every year, spectators from all over Georgia travel to Bakhmaro to enjoy this spectacular event and cheer on the riders.

 The drive from Batumi takes just over three hours along a scenic concrete road offering breathtaking views of the mountains and clouds.

 Please note that heavy traffic is common on the approach to Bakhmaro, especially on the day of the event.

 On the way, you can stop in Nabeglavi to taste and fill up on its famous natural mineral water directly from the spring.
