The ancient Greek epic poet, Hesiod, is best known for two poems: "Theogony" and "Work and Days." Both poems are of special importance for ancient culture. Unlike "Theogony", "Work and Days" focuses entirely on people and their existence and is the first didactic work in Greek literature.
The entanglement of human existence and its reason, justice, living with dignity, honoring the gods properly, working wisely to earn a living: this is just a small list of topics that the author deals with in his poem with special skill.
