A prosperous future. Theodore, a kind guy in his thirties in funny high-waisted pants, installs a new-generation operating system on his already quite smart computer. Possessing artificial intelligence, she can self-improve and, as soon as it becomes apparent, experience emotions and even love.

Under this simple plot lies a very heartfelt, beautifully shot in a futuristic retro-style film with great actors (Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson) and endlessly lovely music. This is the only film Spike Jonze directed based on his own screenplay.
