On February 14 (Saturday) we’re screening one of the most talked-about historical dramas of 2025 — Hamnet, an adaptation of the novel by Maggie O’Farrell, directed by Chloé Zhao.
About the film:
England, 16th century. At the center of the story are Agnes, the wife of William Shakespeare, and their son Hamnet. The film explores family life, love, and a loss that permanently reshapes the inner world of its characters. This is not a biography of a great author, but an attempt to see the human being — and the pain — behind a name and myth known to everyone.
The title refers to Hamnet, Shakespeare’s son, who died at the age of eleven. Scholars have long noted the connection between this event and the tragedy Hamlet, written several years later.
