The play is set during World War II in a village in Guria. The weary, war-faded life of the locals is suddenly brightened by the arrival of lively gypsies. The performance is infused with Gurian wit and sharp humor, while the diverse emotions and temperaments of the characters create an uplifting mood.
The opening scenes bring to life a classroom of that era: a military lesson, the front line as seen through the eyes of the teacher and students, and a clash between the Red Army and a German security unit, where the main character, Soso Mamaladze, portrays the German commander.
In the second and final part of the play, the audience witnesses the relationships and interactions between the Gurians and the gypsies, filled with both tension and humor. Musical and choreographic elements enrich the performance, ensuring the audience remains fully engaged.
