💡 The Academy of Thinking will host a salon-style discussion on “Georgian Gastronomic Culture,” led by gastronomic culture researcher Dalila Tsatava.
Georgian gastronomic culture is much more than its cuisine and traditions of the table. It is an essential part of Georgia’s history, identity, religion, natural environment, and everyday life.
During the session, we will explore the centuries-long development of Georgian cuisine, the diversity of its regional culinary traditions, wine culture, the philosophy of the Georgian feast, and the symbols that have shaped the country’s distinctive traditions of hospitality and culinary heritage.
The lecture will also examine how food becomes a form of cultural memory, what Georgian dishes can tell us about the histories of different regions, and why Georgian gastronomy represents one of the most distinctive expressions of intangible cultural heritage.
The aim of the session is to view Georgian gastronomy as a system of cultural codes that brings together historical experience, rituals, ethical values, and social relationships. In this context, food is understood not merely as an everyday necessity, but as a carrier of memory, identity, and cultural continuity passed down from one generation to the next.
🍰 A buffet and a welcoming atmosphere will be provided during the event.
⏳ Duration: 2–3 hours.
