On January 20 at 6:30 PM, the bookstore Shakro Babua will host the presentation of a new book by Teimuraz Doiashvili and Natia Sikharulidze, titled “Galaktion — Extraordinary and Ordinary.”
🔹 Readers know well that the life of Galaktion Tabidze was unusual and enigmatic. But where does the line lie between circulating legends and reality? This question finds no clear answer in either official biographies or the myths created around the poet.
🔹 The protagonist of the book is a real, earthly Galaktion — not a resident of eternity, but a human being “with faith and doubt.”
🔹 Drawing on documentary sources — the poet’s diaries, notes, and the memories of his contemporaries — the book reveals unexpected episodes from Galaktion’s life and portrays a personality who turned existence itself into a performance in order to cope with loneliness, injustice, and fear.
🔹 “Galaktion — Extraordinary and Ordinary” presents a wide-ranging portrait of a creator who conquered the seemingly unattainable peaks of poetry in his youth with Artistic Flowers, published in independent Georgia, and who later did not shy away from the storm that engulfed his homeland — living in a totalitarian state where, as he wrote, he “did not have a single calm, painless day.”
📣 Admission is free — we look forward to seeing you!
