Fireflies is a series of live ambient / experimental music sessions held in various non-traditional spaces. The project is based on the idea of creating an atmospheric environment for listening and observation.
On December 21, three live music performances will take place at the Evangelical Baptist Peace Cathedral:
Natalia Beridze, Simulya kr & TAN, and Alexander Demianenko.
Natalia Beridze is a Georgian composer and songwriter, widely recognized as the first Georgian female electronic musician to gain broad recognition in Europe. She initially worked under the alias TBA (after signing a contract in Germany in 2002) and released music on labels such as Monika Enterprise and ROOM40.
Her work includes electronic projects as well as compositions for piano, orchestra, and choir. Beridze has collaborated with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto and Thomas Brinkmann. Her music was recently featured in the BBC documentary series Can’t Get You Out of My Head by Adam Curtis. She is currently collaborating with the Zurich-based Kiosk Ensemble.
Alexander Demianenko is a Ukrainian artist who has been living and working in Tbilisi for the past ten years. He creates analog ambient music using cassette technology, composed of his own field recordings, natural textures, piano improvisations, and memories. His work clearly reflects childhood folkloric roots and personal nostalgia.
He is the founder of the cassette label Giraffe Tapes, where he develops a distinctive multimedia sound that brings together music, cine-photography, moving image, and visual narrative into a single emotional field.
Simulya kr & TAN are a spontaneous duo of two friends and sound artists. Their performance is based on dialogue, where one shares experiences and memories gained during a period of separation.
Musically, this is expressed through refined, delicate soundscapes and live experimentation, continuous transformation of sonic landscapes, found sounds, and vocals.
