The film that caused a huge public resonance in the 1990s.
Jack (Norton) lives in a block apartment building and is doing a block job, he is basically nonexistent—an empty space. Out of self-pity, he attends meetings for terminally ill individuals, where he cries on the chest of a near-dead person, hoping to be able to sleep at night. This continues until he meets Tyler Durden (Pitt), a mysterious anarchist who helps him get rid of harmful habits like his apartment and job, and one clear evening he asks Jack to hit him as hard as he can. And so the tale begins.
It may not be believed now, but immediately after its premiere, the film was received very ambiguously by the public and critics and failed miserably at the box office. Ten years later, The New York Times called it «probably the defining cult film of our time.»
