Fallen Leaves

An introverted woman finds solace in her radio, but it only brings her endless anxious news about the war between Russia and Ukraine. Then she meets a similarly lonely and sad alcoholic, and they go to the cinema together to watch Jim Jarmusch's film "The Dead Don't Die" (because everyone knows that Kaurismäki and Jarmusch are old close friends). It will be both sad and funny (at the same time), but it will end well.

This is the latest film from our favorite Finnish melancholic Aki Kaurismäki. Aki himself called it the fourth part of his "proletarian trilogy" (it's irony). A beautiful quiet story about love, despair, and hope, which received prolonged applause in Cannes until the shy and modest Kaurismäki slipped away from the hall.
